Matariki

This week we concluded our Matariki celebrations by having a Hangi. We started the day at dawn when the fire for the hangi was lit and we were told stories about Matariki. Throughout the morning we revisited the hangi pit to watch the hangi being laid, raised and finally joining the rest of the school to eat our delicious kai. 

Well done to all the Amazing children who tried hangi for the first time, especially those who were a bit nervous to begin with! 

We finished our day by making kites and instruments that were traditional for celebrating Matariki.
