Matariki Storyteller

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Re: Matariki Story

This year we are inviting all parents and children to join us in listening to an apprentice navigator share about the Matariki constellation.  The appearing of Matariki bears many significances and Corey Solomon, the navigator, will share a few of them with us.
  • Time: 5:30am
  • Place: Haumoana School hill (above the junior playground/hangi pit)
  • Bring: Hot thermos, warm clothing
This is another Matariki activity among many that we are doing this term.  We will light the hangi during this period where people will be able to warm themselves around the fire while listening to the stories.
Your children will need to be supervised by you during and after this time.  They cannot be left at school afterward after this time but can return at the normal start time of 8 am.
We look forward seeing you on what could possibly be a very crisp morning to listen to some stories. If the weather is bad we will post a message via facebook to let you know if it’s going to be cancelled.
