Week 6 or otherwise known as the busiest week yet.

This week has been incredible! The children proved to be tough as nails and real troopers, considering the early start to the week for most.

On Monday we had a relatively small class, due to the early morning Earthquake and subsequent evacuation for some families. Events like these make for valuable conversations and learning opportunities. We looked at where in New Zealand the earthquake took place and why we got evacuated when we live so far away.

I was proud to hear some of the children say that when they felt the earthquake they went into their Turtle. This is a strategy we have talked about using, when an earthquake or similar event happens as a survival technique. This is an option we have talked about using in conjunction with going under tables, in doorways and when we are outside.  Well done Amazing Eight!

On Friday we had a Kiwiana and book character dress up day. It was a brilliant day, full of fun activities.

The day was finished off with a boogie at the Under the Sea disco. I had a lot of fun talking with the children, dancing and judging the costume competition! It was great to see the children playing, boogieing and having a fabulous time with their friends.

A virtual wave of applause to Rex for winning the best dressed male award!
