Fun Friday

'Today we had a brilliant session of Discovery Learning. While remaining focused on our KC Relating to Others, the children were also tasked with the challenge of building a car or cart to roll down a ramp and creating a basket to hold fruit. The children had lots of success, learnt lessons for why their carts didn't roll and decided what they would do different next time. Great problem solving Amazing Eight!

As we were finishing off our sharing for the morning, Angus spotted Keith and a crane moving th Log Cabin into position on the junior playground. We raced out to see the final stages and Sam was the lucky man chosen to help fold the crane away. The morning was made complete with eating our morning tea in the new cabin built by Keith. Thanks Keith, we love it!

Baby Chicks

Today we welcomed Erica, who came to visit with 3 (out of 12) of her baby chicks.

The children were incredibly quiet and caring as they got to hold the chicks. Kai pai Amazing Eight!

Welcome back

Welcome back for Term 4. It is always great to hear about the adventures the children had over the holidays... It was nice to know the rain didn't hold anyone back!

Today we had our first Discovery Learning session for the Term. Discovery Learning is a time for children to learn through play and develop their social skills through a focus on the Key Competencies in the New Zealand Curriculum.

To start the term off we are focusing on Relating to Others. Before each session begins we brainstorm ideas for what this KC means and what it will look like in action.

The children co-constructed the boundaries and then had a great morning taking part. It was a highlight to see and hear the positive communication the children were using when taking part.
