Harvest Table

This is all set up in the foyer of the office and signals the beginning of our Matariki celebrations.

This week please bring along…

Seeds that you have saved                           Seedlings you have planted

Homemade jams, preserves or chutney, pickles etc

Take a hauhake card and keep it safely somewhere.  You will use this card on sharing day to take something off the table.  If you place kai on the table you may take a card.  Autumn treasures are encouraged but these don’t earn a card.  If you lose your card you will not be able to trade on sharing day.

You can still contribute Legumes – chickpeas, lentils, spices, herbs (can be potted), grains, nuts, oats, buckwheat, autumn leaves and seeds, & treasures fallen from trees.

Sensory Table - Use your senses to discover new things about the spices etc on this table.

The Gruffalo

Today we were very lucky to have Mrs Canon in class for the morning. We have been working on the Gruffalo this week and Mrs Canon had the perfect activity... Making Gruffalo masks. They were a great success!

Class Rules

This week Amazing Eight decided it was time to update our class rules. With a talking buddy the children decided what they thought were important rules we all need to follow.

We then added our ideas together to create our new rules. The children coloured in a hand print to show they agree to follow the rules that were decided on by them.

When children choose not to follow the rules, these are the steps I will take:
- first warning.
- second warning and removed to the thinking spot for a set time duration.
- third warning and removed from the classroom to another teacher for a set time frame.
- phone call home if the behaviour continues.

There will be times when I will choose the deliberate strategy of ignoring. This will be used when a child is displaying attention seeking behaviour. This could be in the form of calling out, making noises and moving around the classroom.

The children in Amazing Eight have been working out and are developing strong ignoring muscles which they are capable of using, too.
