iPad Apps

Below are screen shots of the apps available for the children to use in the classroom. All the apps are free and therefore there are some limitations. Paid apps are available.

The reading apps are a mixture of Collins books and Ministry of Education Ready to Read books. Next term your child will be set up with a Sunshine Classics account, which will be assessable to you at home on iPads and computers.

Pukeko Project

Last week we went on our fabulous trip to the Haumoana Wetlands. Our trip generated interest for learning more about the wildlife that live at the wetlands. Although we did not see Pukeko on our trip this was the bird the children wanted to learn more about.

Each day this week we read non-fiction books about Pukeko and wrote about what we learnt. We researched what Pukeko look like, what they like to eat, and where they live.

Today we made rubber band books and published our information. We invited Room 4 to come buddy read with us and the children did an AMAZING job sharing their pukeko books.

Well done Amazing Eight!
You had your Blue Thinking Hat and Green Creativity Hat on lots this week!

Fish and Chip Friday

Today we finished EOTC week with a Fish and Chip shared lunch. It was a brilliant fun Friday activity to wrap up our fun filled week.

Unfortunately we were unable to complete our Beach Clean Up, however we are aiming to do this in Term 3 to tie in with our environment focus for the term.

I would like to thank you for all your support, help and offers of help throughout the week. We rely on your help make this week happen and I am grateful for all Mums, Dads, and Whanau for being involved.

Haumoana Wetlands

Today Amazing Eight went to the Haumoana Wetlands with Rooms 1 and 7. It was wonderful to visit our local environment and see the plants and wildlife we hope to learn more about. The children used their senses while walking around the wetlands to think about what we could see, hear and smell. When back in class we talked about what we noticed and recorded our thoughts on a chart to be displayed for everyone to see.

A huge thank you to all the parents who offered transport and suppervision. The trip could not have happened without your support.
